In class we were assigned to shoot and edit a 3 minute profile. So for this profile I decided to use my guitar teacher as subject, which worked out great because I think that we have an interesting topic. This is our final project for the semester and we are editing it together today.
Some things that I can take away from the shoot:
base light — We were able to move the interview into a larger room where we could have the proper space to move equipment and set up lighting. The problem though was that we were in a lecture room where the overhead lights were created a high base light that was more blue. And trying to create separation of our subject from the background was nearly impossible with one light. What we should have done differently would have been to turn off some of the overhead lights or even eliminate them completely. But we also would have needed to set up more lights for two point or three point lighting.
Communication — There was no problem with our subject since we were just there to shoot him doing what he does. But setting up cameras and having a set plan of what we needed to shoot and what our jobs were going to be really lacked.
